Personified the essence of true religion Gandhiji personified in himself not merely the spirit of India but also the essence of true religion. Religion has many dialects and complexions but Gandhiji spoke its inner voice-of truthful-ness, of social justice, of compassion, of tolerance. We have enough religion nowadays to hate one another but Gandhiji had enough religion to love even his enemies.
We cannot all be Gandhis, but we could in a lesser or greater degree imbibe the essence of his teachings, the deeper truths for which he lived and died.
