Quintessence of the man of peace There is still some hope for the world which reacted as reverently as it did to the death of Gandhi. The shock and sorrow that followed the New Delhi tragedy shows we still respect sainthood even when we cannot fully understand it. There are striking parallels between the life of Gandhi and Jesus as recorded in the New Testament. Like Jesus, Gandhi was the quintessence of the man of peace and like Jesus he met a violent death.
