He symbolized in his own person the highest ideals of his people. The Mahatma was shot down while leading his last noble fight for India's unity. His death in the cause of a united India raised him to a pedestal of supreme greatness. China feels the loss with profound grief.

Mahatma Gandhi was a great Asiatic. His ideals will live after him as an inspiration to posterity.
